Easy Rider Dalat – The Best Way to Discover Vietnam’s Central Highlands

Ride like a local: mountain passes, coffee farms, ethnic villages, and secret waterfalls — an immersive motorbike story from Dalat to the coast and across the Central Highlands.

Between pine-scented hills and cloud-drifted passes, an Easy Rider tour from Dalat is a love letter to Vietnam’s Central Highlands. It is not about arriving fast; it’s about stopping often — for a roadside coffee, a story from a village elder, a sudden waterfall behind the pines.

Our day begins in the cool air of Dalat. The engines purr, helmets click, and we trace the gentle curves out of town. Farms slip by in green stripes — coffee, mulberry, and rows of flowers bound for city markets. The road climbs, then tips into the long descent of Khanh Le Pass, where the highlands fold into the sea.

“The best moments aren’t on the map — they’re in the small stops: a pot of fresh robusta, a swing bridge to a minority village, the laughter of kids chasing the bikes.”

Inside an Easy Rider Day

With a local English-speaking rider, you choose the pace. Ride pillion for comfort or take the handlebars yourself. There’s time to photograph rice terraces, to sample pepper-dusted pineapples, to visit a family-run silk house where cocoons turn into shimmering thread.

Roadside kitchens become our dining rooms: bánh căn hot off the mould, grilled chicken with wild herbs, and drip coffee black as volcanic soil. By afternoon, the wind changes and the landscape opens — coastal light ahead, or the red earth of the highlands if we ride west.

Three Routes, Three Moods

Why It Stays With You

Perhaps it’s the rhythm of the road, or the way strangers wave as you pass. Perhaps it’s the first sip of weasel coffee at a farm where beans dry on blue tarps in the sun. On Easy Rider days, distances shrink and encounters grow. You leave with photos, yes — but more importantly, with names, flavours, and places you’ll want to return to.

Suggested 2-Day Outline (flexible)

  • Day 1: Dalat countryside → coffee farm → waterfall stop → scenic pass → local dinner & overnight.
  • Day 2: Morning village visit → viewpoints & photo breaks → arrival (Nha Trang / Mui Ne / Buon Ma Thuot).
